MC5 es una de esas bandas que son una rareza bastante original que terminó influenciando a muchos otros grupos. Si se lo ponen a escuchar bien son una banda punk pero nacida en los sesenta! Algo totalmente atípico para su época.

La banda de Detroit surgió en 1964, estaba conformada por Wayne Kramer y Fred «Sonic» Smith (en guitarras), Michael Davis (bajo), Rob Tyner (vocales) y Dennis en Thompson (batería). Lamentablemente el grupo tuvo una existencia breve, ya para 1972 se disolvería. Pero en esos pocos años dejaron su importante legado, especialmente este espectacular álbum.

Ante todo hay que mencionar que Kick Out the Jams es un disco en vivo. Sí, su debut oficial fue un álbum en directo algo no muy frecuente pero que en este caso valió la pena, especialmente porque es u registro sensacional de lo espectacular que era MC5 como banda en vivo. Kick Out the Jams es una vorágine de energía y actitud que nunca detiene su marcha y te mantiene constantemente prendido.

Ya desde “Ramblin Rose” pasando por la ilustre y la homónima “Kick Out The Jams” (la canción más conocida del disco), MC5 se transforma en un ventilador de punk rock descontrolado incluso en su experimental final con “Starship”.

El disco es sensacional, transmite una motivación constante que pocos logran. Un gran debut, una gran álbum en vivo, de una gran banda punk.
