Con el declive de los primeros ídolos del rock and roll que surgieron en los 50, tales como Chuck Berry y Elvis Presley, el legendario Bob Dylan comenzaría a tomar terreno en tierra norteamericana a través de su clásico folk de protesta, junto a bandas de gran relevancia que lo tomaron como gran referencia como The Byrds.

Simultáneamente, en Gran Bretaña surgiría un fenómeno que cambio el rumbo de la historia del rock, ya que en la década del 60, la denominada Invasión Británica diría presente. La cual representa la aparición de muchos de los grupos más importantes e influyentes de la historia, como lo fueron los Beatles, Los Rolling Stones, Los Who y Los Kinks.
