1969 a 1972: Hardrock y Glamrock

Para finalizar con el pop y la psicodelia que se imponía en los 60, se dieron un conjunto de eventos que marcaron quiebre. El Festival de Woodstock marcó el momento cumbre del hipismo y su mensaje de “amor y paz”. Sin embargo, después del Festival las cosas ya no serían como antes. Las muertes de importantes ídolos musicales como Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Janis Joplin y Jim Morrison (todos a la edad de 27 años, formando el «Club de los 27») marcarían el final de una etapa.

Además, en 1969 Paul McCartney anunciaría oficialmente la separación de los Beatles, luego del lanzamiento de uno de sus discos más importantes: Abbey Road. De esta forma los ex Beatles empezarían cada uno su carrera en solitario.

Esta serie de episodios que comenzarían a partir de 1969, daría lugar a que otras bandas tomen mayor posición en la puesta de escena. La aparición de Led Zeppelin significaría la apertura hacia una nueva etapa de Hard Rock. Además de la banda de Page y Plant, también nacería Black Sabbath y Deep Purple, quienes acentuarían aquel estilo y empezarían a dar origen al Heavy Metal.

Junto con este fenómeno también emergería David Bowie bajo la figura de Ziggy Stardust y Marc Bolan de T-Rex, quienes serían los padres del Glam Rock.
